Biff Blumfumgagnge - Recording and Music Technology

Biff is an accomplished musician, performer, technician, music theorist, and innovator of sound. His studio and touring credits include: Natty Nation, Hanah Jon Taylor, Robert Fripp Soundscapes, The League of Crafty Guitarists, Ritt Deitz, Charlie Cheney, Cobbz Webb, Lance Ketterer, The Reptile Palace Orchestra, The Gomers, Yammer, Joey Saturn & Bob Uranus, Sin Fronteras (South American Artists), The Singing Irishman, The Stellanovas (Chris Wagoner & Mary Gaines), Gen Gereb, Steve Miller, Les Paul, Adrian Belew, Robert Fripp, Willy Porter, and Clyde Stubblefield.

Nella Citino - Video and Motion Graphics

Nella Citino is a media veteran and has gained years of experience as a producer, director, writer and editor. Presently she is Chair of the Dept. of Visual Arts at Madison Media Institute and a video instructor. While her broadcast work has gained national recognition from Emmys to Parents' Choice awards, Nella's experience and training includes print and web development and design. She is a member of the task force of Film Wisconsin, a non-profit organization dedicated to attracting the film industry to Wisconsin. She earned her BA from Kent State University and Master's degree from Bowling Green State University.

Rich Denhardt - Recording and Music Technology

Rich has been a music industry professional for over 30 years. Starting out as a band member and touring the US he moved to FOH and Recording engineering in 1980. For the last eleven years he served as Senior Director of A&R for EMI labels Narada, Back Porch and Narada Jazz. He has worked for or with such artists as David Bowie, Adrian Belew, Robert Fripp, Chuck Berry, The Subdudes, Ramsey Lewis, Champaign, New Edition, Tony Levin, Lila Downs, Frank Black, The Bodeans, George Massenburg and many others.

Ron Dettwiler - Recording and Music Technology

Ron has played guitar as a musician for more than 20 years. Running live sound for bands and performing as a musician led Ron to establish his own recording studio in 1997. In addition to teaching at MMI for over 6 years, Ron has worked with many local and regional artists over the last two decades. He is a proud graduate of MMI.

Nancy Gray - General Studies

With 22 years of teaching experience as a certified public school instructor, Nancy's accomplishments include chairing WEAC's Public Relations Committee, coordinating WEAC's Great Schools Program in Central Wisconsin, judging DPI's Skills USA competition, and directing Green County's Youth Apprenticeship Program. Nancy has a Bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, and Masters-level credits in computer applications, public education issues, and school-to-work and student services. She is the former vice president of Central Wisconsin UniServ Council, and its recipient of the Distinguished Service Award for outstanding service.

Dan Harjung - Recording and Music Technology

Dan is a graduate of the Institute of Audio/Video Engineering in Hollywood. He has 20+ years of experience mixing and producing music. He was A&R Representative and mastering Engineer with Narada Records a division of EMI and Virgin Records. Dan built the studios for the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music in Milwaukee, and taught their lecture and lab classes.

Chris Kasper - Recording and Music Technology

Chris has been professionally involved in multiple facets of the music industry for over 10 years. Chris lives and breathes music. He is the owner of a local Production Company and has recorded live or mixed live numerous national acts such as Seether, Sevendust, Stone Sour, Bret Michaels and many more. His company, Ghostown Productions, averages about 200 shows per year. Many of which are national touring acts. Chris is also involved in freelance recording projects at ELabs Multimedia, which was nominated for best studio design of 2006 by "Mix" Magazine. If there is something major going down in the regional music scene, it's a pretty safe bet that Chris Kasper is involved in some way.

Travis Kasperbauer - Recording and Music Technology

Travis is a lifelong musician who's been working with recording artists for more than 15 years. As an award winning freelance engineer, he has worked with The Young Blood Brass Band, Talib Kweli, and Ike Willis (Frank Zappa). Travis has logged hours as a recording engineer at Smart Studios. He is a Certified ProTools Instructor. After more than 8 years of tackling courses at the University of Wisconsin, Travis opened and operates Master Blaster Studios.

Eric Larson - Digital Media Design and Production

Eric has taught color theory and basic design at Atlanta's Portfolio Center and the Academy of Art in San Francisco. He has an online art company called Vector Art House and is currently busy with children's books and government websites. Among Eric's credits: Lead designer for Star Wars Special Edition and Episode 1 (Lucasfilm), Pepsi, Frito Lay, Pizza Hut, KFC, Toys R Us. Ad agency work included clients: Black & Decker, Coke, Gillette, Nestea, Smirnoff, A&W, Beck's Beer, Delta-Pan Am-Lufthansa-USA Airlines, Mennen, Swatch, Stouffer, USA Network, Hanes, McDonalds, Tyson Foods, Target, 3M, American Express & the Milwaukee zoo.

Sean McMahon - Recording and Music Technology

Sean's diverse credits include producing and engineering Marilyn Manson, Michael Bolton, The Judd's, Slipknot, Stone Sour, Wynona Judd, and Bill Gaither. He collaborated on two Grammy nominated album projects and a Platinum album. Sean mixed and/or engineered tracks on three #1 Billboard Music videos. A Certified Pro Tools Instructor, Sean has a Bachelor of Science degree from Middle Tennessee State University.

Tim Mickleburgh - Video and Motion Graphics

Tim taught at Wiltshire College in England for 4 years, where he was program leader of a two-year media production course focusing on video and animation. He worked at Rocket Research Company near Seattle where he specialized in high-speed video and cinematography, as well as video production and studio photography. He began his career as a freelance commercial photographer and leader of photography workshops. Tim graduated in photography from the Bournemouth and Poole College of Art and received a postgraduate Certificate in Education from the University of Bath. He studied film and video production at the University of Washington and animation at the University of West England.

Doug Olson - Recording and Music Technology

Doug's credits include engineering, producing or mixing for artists such as Killdozer, EMF, Skunk Anansie, Overwhelming Colorfast, Urge Overkill, The Young Fresh Fellows, L7, The Smashing Pumpkins, and HBO Reverb. Doug owns a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature from the UW Madison. Doug learned and continues to learn - the art of recording. Doug has worked fifteen years as a professional engineer, producer and mixer. Also known as Mr. Colson.

Dave Poler - Recording and Music Technology

Dave's impressive studio work includes recording and mixing albums for Michael Jackson (Grammy nominee), Paul McCartney, The Backstreet Boys, Julio Iglesias, KC & the Sunshine Band, P. Diddy (Grammy nominee), George McRae, Geri Halliwell, Bon Jovi, the late Barry White, Ricky Martin and dozens of other artists. Two albums Dave engineered won Latin Grammy's. He spent 6 years as a recording engineer at the Hit Factory Criteria and Studio Center in Miami. Fluent in English and Spanish, Dave is a proficient songwriter and guitar player. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston's Berklee College of Music where he majored in music production and engineering.

David Ruthe - Video and Motion Graphics

Dave has done freelance design work for the Red Cross and Stephan & Brady ad agency. He has also created 3D assets and content for multiple unpublished computer games. Dave received his diploma at MMI.

Jack Sayre - Recording and Music Technology

Jack has created original music and sound design for over 25 theatrical and musical productions. With 10 years of experience in sound design and audio production, Jack has extensive "know-how" as a clinician for various audio/MIDI software and hardware companies including Sonic Foundry and Sonorus. He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a piano performance concentration from the University of Illinois.

Kent Steine - Video and Motion Graphics

Kent Steine is a long time classically trained illustrator and painter. His work has appeared on more than 50 magazine covers. He's produced concept art, story development for comics, trading cards, animation and 2 best selling books. He currently focuses on painting pin-up cartoons and celebrity portraits.

Nancy Stillwell - Video and Motion Graphics

Nancy worked in many aspects of TV newsrooms for 11 years. At various times she was an anchor, reporter, producer and assignment editor. She's an active member of the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association and maintains contacts in TV news all across the country. She won a WBA award for a documentary, "Standing Up to Stalkers." Nancy has been awarded two Midwest Emmys for her work on the children's TV program "Get Real!" Nancy has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She's also a Certified Apple Final Cut Pro Instructor.
